The Loan Vote is Tabled Until 12/14

Why does the School Board want to table the loan until Monday?  Two issues are at play:

  1. The School Board would like to include the feedback from our new superintendent in this process.  (This was a suggestion by drama teacher Jim Nunes. Board member Richardson made the motion). Mr. Richardson originally moved to table the loan until the January meeting.
  2. However, the Board (led by Terry Parker) would like to preserve the current financing terms and the loan officer who was present at the meeting could not guarantee those terms into January and that he would need to check with his office.  Next Monday the Board will receive the loan officer's testimony as to how long the Distirct can keep the current loan terms.

Essentially, if the loan officer can guarantee terms of the loan for another month, then it seems likely the Board will table the loan until January and allow the new Supe to provide feedback.  If the loan officer testifies on Monday that the whole loan process would need to go back out to bid, then the Board will need to decide if they want to take the loan immediately or to gamble with new loan terms in the new year after getting more feedback..

Please mark your calendars for Monday, December 14 at the District Office.  The special board meeting will start at 5:00pm.
