The CFT March for California’s Future
A Call for Volunteers

The California Federation of Teachers, along with a coalition of other labor groups, has organized a march to support education and other important public services in California. The forty-eight day event which began in Bakersfield in early March is coming through Galt on April 15 and culminates with a rally in Sacramento on April 21. Your participation in these events will help raise awareness for education issues in our state.

 PLEASE SAVE THE FOLLOWING DATES:

·         Saturday, April 10—The Manteca to Stockton (8.5 miles) Leg of the March

Please RSVP your attendance with me so I can inform event organizers of our intention to join them. Carpools will leave GHS at 6:45am with an approximate return to GHS by 3:00pm. The walk begins in Manteca at 8:00am and a shuttle van will follow close behind for those who get tired.

·         Thursday, April 15th—GFCCE Hosted Reception for Marchers as They Arrive in Galt

The GFCCE will welcome the marchers as they arrive in Galt at the end of their 15 mile march from Lodi. We will show our support for the marchers with a cheering section and some snacks and beverages. It would be great to see a large turnout welcoming the marchers as they enter Galt. Please invite friends and family. Estimated time for the reception is 3:00pm; location TBA. We are in need of soft chairs and recliners that we can borrow for the marchers to sit in after the walk.

·         Wednesday, April 21st  Rally at the State Capitol

The 48-day march ends in Sacramento on April 21 with a huge rally. The district has generously provided us a bus which will depart GHS at 3:20 and will return between 6:30 and 7:00pm. Wear AFT blue to the rally and let’s make our voices heard for education policy in California.

Some of the details for these events still need to be ironed out. More updates will be provided at the April 13 union meeting and online at http://gfcce.org. The website for the CFT march is www.fight4cafuture.com
